Aeck Makes Successful Supercross Return at Anaheim

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Granada Hills, CA – Eleven months removed from a serious accident that ended his 2017 Supercross campaign, Team SKVI/The Racers Edge Honda rider Colton Aeck made his Monster Energy AMA Supercross return at the opening round of the series in front of a sellout crowd at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California.

For Aeck, his return was the culmination of hard work and perseverance. “A1 is already a special round because it’s the opener but it was even more significant this year,” said Aeck. “Eleven months ago, I wasn’t even able to walk, let alone ride a bike. I didn’t know if I would ever ride my motorcycle again but I made a promise that I would make it back. I had no reason to believe it would happen, but I said it anyway. I worked every day like it was my last and look where we are now.”

Once practice and qualifying began, Aeck needed some time to get re-acclimated but steadily got faster as he clicked off laps. Aeck came into the final timed session close to the cutoff to qualify for the night show but yellow flags in his final 3 laps ended any chance for Aeck to better his qualifying time and he would finish just 5 spots out of the final qualifying position. “I struggled with nerves all day,” said Aeck. “Then I had some bad luck with downed riders during timed qualifying. Overall though, I’m happy to come out healthy and ready to show the real me this weekend in Houston.”

Aeck’s remarkable comeback journey will be documented in the “Project 526” video series and fans can watch each episode on YouTube all season long. Episode 1 is available now and documents Aeck’s preparation for the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season opener.
